Interview with Father Giresse, bursar of Goma
At the heart of a regional conflict that has been going on for three decades, the town of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo came under the control of the M23 rebels last week.
The situation has led to deadly fighting and plunged the town into a serious humanitarian crisis.
Father Giresse, bursar of the diocese of Goma and a member of the Emmanuel Community, was in Rome with his bishop to discuss important issues for his diocese. He shared with us his concern and suffering, but also his hope: that the Lord will put an end to this war and bring peace to the DRC. Interview.
Located in the east of the DRC, in the North Kivu region, the city of Goma, with a population of one million, is at the heart of a regional conflict that has pitted it against Rwanda and the rebels for almost 30 years.
