“The retreat was a grace-filled opportunity to celebrate the great liturgical event of Pentecost, with a focus on receiving God’s passionate love – the Holy Spirit – in order to be strengthened in our call to evangelise.”
The Pentecost Retreat run by the Emmanuel Community was held at the beautiful Benedict XVI Retreat Centre Grose Vale on the 18th and 19th May 2024.
Fr Josh Miechels and Fr Wojciech OFM Cap joined us to minister together in both word and sacrament.
The theme of the retreat was taken from John 7:37 – 39:
37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, “If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink.”
38 He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.’
39 Now this he said about the Spirit, which those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Approximately 60 participants experienced a time of intimacy with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, who sends us His Spirit at Pentecost. Each day we had a time of joyful praise, adoration, Holy Mass and a teaching from Dominic and Victoria Lawrence. The teachings focused on Intimacy with the Heart of Jesus and the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit flowing from Jesus’ Heart. On Saturday afternoon we experienced God’s Mercy through confession, adoration, testimonies and prayer and Saturday night eucharistic adoration was held throughout the night.
This joyful, profound weekend drew us closer to the Heart of Jesus, source of living water: the Holy Spirit.
