100 pilgrims have travelled with the Emmanuel Community in Australia to embark on a Jubilee Pilgrimage “To The Source” this July to Rome and Paray-Le-Monial.
The pilgrimage began upon arrival in Rome. The experience of Rome was geared towards a profound embrace of the Church, our Mother and Teacher, which is “One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic.” In this Year of Jubilee 2025, the “Pilgrims of Hope”, were able to see and touch the very foundations of more than 2,000 years of history, via the witness of the Apostles, the blood of the martyrs, and the testimony of the Fathers of the Church. While savouring the cultural, spiritual and historical riches of the Eternal City, the occasional pizza and gelato went well under the Roman summer sun.
In Paray-le-Monial, the pilgrims participated in a “summer session”, animated by the Emmanuel Community. Each year 20,000 to 30,000 people attend these sessions. Each morning began with praise, with thousands of brothers and sisters from France and around the world. Throughout each day there were opportunities for Mass, teachings, workshops, adoration, confession, testimonies and much more. The pilgrims also had the opportunity to pray in the Visitation Chapel, where St. Marguerite Mary Alacoque received the apparitions of the Sacred Heart, and also where she is buried.
