Information sur la nomination du nouveau responsable des ministres ordonnés de la Communauté de l’Emmanuel.

Sur proposition de Michel-Bernard de Vregille, modérateur général de la Communauté de l’Emmanuel, après approbation du Conseil de l’Association Cléricale de la Communauté de l’Emmanuel et l’accord de Mgr de Kesel, archevêque de Malines-Bruxelles, le Dicastère pour le Clergé a institué le père Dominique Janthial, responsable des ministres ordonnés de l’Association Cléricale de la Communauté de l’Emmanuel pour un mandat de 5 ans à compter du 1 février 2023.
Né le 29 mai 1965, dans une famille parisienne, Dominique fut orphelin de mère à l’âge de cinq ans. Il a deux demi-frères. Son père, deux fois veuf, est membre de la Communauté.
Diplômé d’une école de commerce en 1986 (HEC-Paris), Dominique Janthial part comme volontaire avec FIDESCO dans l’ex-Zaïre (désormais République Démocratique du Congo) où il commence un cheminement avec la Communauté de l’Emmanuel. Il le poursuivra à Paris tout en travaillant comme consultant (chez Arthur Andersen).
En 1989, il commence sa formation en vue du sacerdoce à l’IET de Bruxelles (Institut Jésuite de Théologie), puis à Jérusalem, via l’Institut Ratisbonne, où il étudie le judaïsme à l’Université Hébraïque.
Membre de la Communauté de l’Emmanuel depuis 1987, il est ordonné prêtre le 8 janvier 1995 pour le diocèse de Malines-Bruxelles. Il acquiert la nationalité belge.
À son retour de Jérusalem, il commence à enseigner à l’IET tout en étant vicaire à la paroisse du Sacré-Cœur à Bruxelles. Il soutiendra sa thèse dans ce même institut et continuera à y enseigner la théologie biblique et l’anthropologie jusqu’à sa fermeture en 2018.
En 2007, il devient responsable d’une unité pastorale de plusieurs paroisses dont celle du Sacré-Cœur. Il a ensuite été curé de la paroisse universitaire Saint François à Louvain-la-Neuve. Sa connaissance du judaïsme et son intérêt pour le dialogue l’ont par ailleurs conduit à présider en Belgique la Commission Nationale pour le dialogue avec le monde Juif (CNCJ) et à co-fonder dans ce pays la formation interreligieuse Emouna. Également proche des arabes chrétiens, dont il connait la langue, il a, dès ses débuts en 2002 et pendant 15 ans, accompagné la Communauté de l’Emmanuel en Égypte.
Depuis 2020, il était délégué du responsable des ministres ordonnées de l’Emmanuel pour l’Europe (hors France).
Il se confie à notre prière, particulièrement pour sa nouvelle mission auprès des prêtres et diacres de la Communauté, au service de l’Eglise.
After the proposal made by Michel-Bernard de Vregille, the General Moderator of the Emmanuel Community, with the approval of the Council of the Clerical Association of the Emmanuel Community and the agreement of Mgr de Kessel, Archbishop of Malines-Brussels, the Dicastery for the Clergy has appointed Father Dominique Janthial head of all ordained ministers of the Clerical Association of the Emmanuel Community for a five-year term beginning 1st February, 2023.
Born on 29th May, 1965 into a Parisian family. Dominique was orphaned at the age of five. He has two half-brothers. His father, twice widowed, is a member of the Community.
After graduating from a Business School in 1986 (HEC-Paris), Dominique Janthial volunteered with FIDESCO in the former Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) where he began a journey with the Emmanuel Community. On his return to Paris, he worked as a consultant (with Arthur Andersen).
In 1989, he began his training for the priesthood at the IET (Jesuit Institute of Theology) in Brussels, then in Jerusalem where he studied Judaism at the Hebrew University with the Ratisbonne Institute.
Since 1987, he has been a member of the community. He was later ordained a priest on 8th January, 1995 for the diocese of Malines-Brussels. He became a Belgian citizen.
On his return from Jerusalem, he began teaching at the IET while being curate at the Sacred Heart parish in Brussels. He defended his thesis at the same institute and continued to teach biblical theology and anthropology there until its closure in 2018.
In 2007, he became responsible for a pastoral unit of several parishes, including that of the Sacred Heart. He was then parish priest of the university parish of Saint François in Louvain-la-Neuve. His knowledge of Judaism and his interest in dialogue led him to chair the National Commission for Dialogue with the Jewish World (CNCJ) in Belgium and to co-found the interfaith training course “Emouna” in that country. Also close to Arab Christians, whose language he speaks, he has accompanied the Emmanuel Community in Egypt since its inception in 2002 and for 15 years.
Since 2020, he has been the delegate of the Clerical Association for the European zone (outside France).
He entrusts himself to our prayers, especially for his new mission with the priests and deacons of the Community in the service of the Church.
