At the heart of a regional conflict that has been going on for three decades, the town of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo came under the control of the M23 rebels last week.<\/strong><\/p>

The situation has led to deadly fighting and plunged the town into a serious humanitarian crisis.<\/strong><\/p>

Father Giresse, bursar of the diocese of Goma and a member of the Emmanuel Community, was in Rome with his bishop to discuss important issues for his diocese. He shared with us his concern and suffering, but also his hope: that the Lord will put an end to this war and bring peace to the DRC.
