Look, today I am setting you
\nover nations and over kingdoms,
\nto tear up and to knock down,
\nto destroy and to overthrow,
\nto build and to plant.\u2019<\/p>\n

It sounds strange, and faintly ridiculous, that the Lord tells us
\ntoday that he set us up to knock over nations and kingdoms. What is
\ntrue is that in our baptism and confirmation, he has sent us into the
\nworld as prophets – much more than the prophets of the Old Testament,
\nfilled as we are far more than they by the Holy Spirit and elevated
\ninto the redeemed humanity of the co-eternal Son. But in this passage
\nthe Lord underlines the importance of spending our days filled with
\ndoing good. It’s not that we have to focus on all the evils in and
\naround us – but rather to focus on how much good we can do for our
\nneighbour and our neighbourhood: the power of good totally outweighs
\nthe empty weakness of evil. And if we all simply did that, there
\nwould be no worldly problems. So let’s renew our courage and our
\nbrazen love, and spend all our day doing good wherever we can. This,
\nin itself, flips over the evil around us, and in our world.<\/p>\n
